I don't think it's a scam per se, but I think it's a lot of money riding on the whims of a naive young kid.

The fact that eth is an uncapped (no max supply) coin, it will never replace the value BTC has the potential to achieve. But after the ICO buy in with eth craze is done it will drop a bit..but in the longhaul it will be worth even more.
