Could someone help me get started with crypto mining? And how profitable is it mining BTC or ETH right now?
From what I gather from others it is not profitable to mine bitcoin anymore. You have to have specialized ASIC chips. You are better off investing in BTC or another coin of your choosing.
It's very profitable, but why would we encourage competitors

I make about $10/day with $1200 in hardware.
>>2305757
in other words, you're better off putting the $1200 into shitcoins while they're crashing
>>2305786
It's passive income and I don't need to micromanage it (nicehash), I just get 0.03 BTC or so every Tuesday morning to use to invest in shitcoins. I already broke even and only spend about $20/mo in electricity.

Really? I make $4.00 a day with only a $200 gpu
>>2305823
I'm using two $220 GPUs inside my main desktop rig, but if I had to rebuild my rig, it would cost about $1000~

>GPU mining
If you are doing BTC or ETH, that is why it is $10 a day. ASIC will blow it out of the water. Maybe try mining some shitcoin that is good with GPUs, like Digibyte.

Isn't that scrypt based? How on earth is that good for GPUs?
I mean yeah, I'm mostly mining ETH, but it's not *me* that's mining, I get paid direct in BTC.

I don't pay utilities, it's included in my rent.
Is there anything I can mine on a spare laptop?
>>2305980
No, but if you already have a big bag of PoS cryptocoins in your bags, you can put them in a proper wallet and maybe make some more coins by staking.

Can someone explain to me how putting coins in a wallet makes you more coins?
>>2305932
It uses a couple different algos, skein works really well for GPUs. I make a few buckaroos with two spare computers.
Really though, mining anything is tough unless you spend a shitload for hardware specifically for it, GPU or ASIC
