I want to know general information about any US company, such as when they were founded, company size, and industry. What would be the best option for this?

I've considered Manta and Buzzfile, which have a lot of info, but are pretty stingy about letting anyone actually use a lot of it. The US Securities and Exchange Commission has some info, but it's really scattered and can't be easily parsed.
