It does, but you have to keep a close eye on how the change in difficulty affects your gains.
As long as your setup is half decent, you can mine at a profit.
It's also difficult to factor in changes in profit due to the volatility of the coins you have already mined.

It's why most people just pick something relatively stable but with a reasonable difficulty (Like ETH)
Profits are smaller, but you don't need to reset every fucking part of your farm every 4 hours
