If this is true, then theres a massive flaw somewhere in the code. Collisions shouldn't happen within any reasonable amount of time. You probably have a better chance at phasing through a fucking wall.

that's why you supposed to make wallet contract, which would be impossible to crack.

You can bruteforce btc wallets too. Somebody tried it already. It's called large bitcoin collider or something

Basically if it wasn't pure luck and they aren't lying ETH can be stolen from anyone at random.

ETH is a scamcoin that will crash and burn.

Literally why would anyone want ETH to become a thing when it's just fiat on the blockchain.

>inflationary
>centralized
>security vulnerabilities

I thought escaping all these problems are why we moved to crypto in the first place.

Reminder Bitcoin is the one true coin. It's a deflationary assent. It's completely decentralized. It has 0 security vulnerabilities.

Any problems you have today with Bitcoin due to slowness and high fees are a small price to pay. These will be fixed, although it will take time. But that's a good thing. Bitcoin being very hard to change is a good long term prospect.

ETH can be changed on a wimp whenever that Russian scammer decides he wants to. This is not what you want in a currency.

All the "problems" that you see in Bitcoin today are just reflections that it is still working as intended by it's creator.

If this is true every ico and every one working with Ethereum blockchain technology is beyond fuck.

jesus fucking christ, all this retarded fudders

READ THIS
>>2242455

It is possible with any cryptocurrency, but HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

Ethereum wallet has got a wallet contract option to protect from this, where you would need to generate 2 private keys that would match, which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to guess. Also it allows you to set daily withdrawal limits.
>>
>>2242478
No, Eth forked because someone exploited a vulnerability in the cash-out function from theDAO's smart contract; the one saving grace of the contract terms was that there was a waiting period before you could get that transaction to cash out processed, so in that time, the ETH devs essentially invalidated the transaction then forked the chain to remove the recursive call on theDAO's contract and basically revert all funds from theDAO's ICO back to the token purchasers' original wallets.

It was a clusterfuck, but the error wasn't in the Ethereum network, but rather poor coding on the part of whoever wrote theDAO's smart contract.
>>
>>2242508

If you had private keys of random wallets you could empty their shit through any means and it would look like those accounts were doing regular transfers. No one would listen to the original owner either claiming something odd happened they would dismiss him as a retard who lost his own shit or some lunatic trying to claim someone else's shit. So granted someone pulled this off why would they go on twitter to disclose themselves instead of robbing small amounts of random retards? Sounds like a silly rumor

Some clarification:
- An Ethereum address (and virtually every other cryptocurrency out there) is generated by just telling your computer to generate some random bytes. He's claiming he did just that and got an address that already had funds in it.
- The chances of doing what he claims he did is so ridiculously unlikely, it is considered virtually impossible. It's something that would likely never happen even if you took all the computing power in this world and tried to bruteforce with it for thousands of years.
- He said he used NodeJS to generate it. Most people use npm to get NodeJS packages, so that's likely where he got it. Literally anyone can upload packages there. It's full of buggy code and most likely full of malicious code as well. So if we assume he's talking the truth, it's infinitely more likely he used buggy code or code purposely written to do just that so that the developer can sweep the addresses of any coins that might end up there.

Conclusion:
It's either bullshit or he used bad code. And even if it were true and the software he used to generate the address wasn't buggy, this does not translate into ETH being compromised. All it means is that he's the luckiest individual in this world. He did not "hack" anything. Nice try, though.

Why are such massive sell walls being maintained? The population of buyers is much smaller than sellers yet still the walls stand, refusing price drop.

It seems very manipulated. Is this dip gonna be a typical alt coin sell wall pump and dump? I wonder how much of the ETH market is now in the hands of whales...

>believing this bullshit
Couple possibilities here:
1. He's a lying nigger trying to make the price go down.
2. He actually did generate a priv key but did it with no entropy and has the same priv key as other dumbfucks who also did so.
3. He generated a priv key that collided with another existing one, a 1 in 10^999999999999999999999999999999999999999 some fucking super high incomprehensible number chance of happening.

Pick.

Why no discussion of this so-called problem on r/Bitcoin? They hate Ethereum and would be all over this if it were true.
