BAT ico starting in two days. 11am EST.
The real question is since china is adding ETH the same day...
>Whether to just hold ETH, or go balls deep in BAT for a quick 20-50% flip?
>>
i thought about it then changed my mind. it seems risky. maybe if they had advertisers and users lined up but how many people are even using this browser?
>>
>>2223326
over a million
has over 700k downloads on android I think
doesnt list number of apple store downloads
doesnt list the number of desktop downloads
>>
i heard the phone browser is good. i tried the desktop, it was ugly. not many people will turn on ads evenn for pennies. so the only people that would use the coin are publishers and advertisers. the publishers would most likely sell it right away. so i would say it's not worth the risk.
>>
I will invest something like 500€ worth
it may be risky, but the reward could be very high.
>>
>>2223342
That seems reasonable. I'm tied up in other shit I feel more confident about so I'm going to pass but if I wasn't, I know I'd be more interested.
>>
>>2223340
also, given the ico hysteria these days where everyone wants to ride the next moon mission, it will probably be overpriced
>>
>>2223351
the ico? or after the ico?
Overpriced is great for the short term flippers who got in on the ICO
>>
>>2223354
the ico. also, the founder being who he is and given that they already have many downloads on mobile, i would say it would be more overpriced than normal.
>>
anyone know the usual timeline for how long a new ico takes to get put on an exchange
when can i expect to see BAT or bancor or mysterium on bittrex?
>>
>>2223358
the ICO is a 24M cap.
Aragon was like 23M.

BAT is much more hyped and talked about than Aragon was and Aragon is trading at a near 100% increase in 7 days
>>
>>2223360
gatecoin
>>
>>2223370
Gatecoin and liqui.io usually have the new ICO's in about an hour or two after they close.

Relatively low volume exchanges though
>>
>>2223369

That was a red flag in itself.

The ICO was 15m. They saw how well Aragon did and just decided to increase it by 9m two weeks before the launch. Why? 'Advertising' they say.
>>
going balls deep on BAT and Bancor. should be good.
>>
Is this shit getting released on the 31st or in an hour? Because their website says it's getting released in an hour?
>>
>>2223801
probably an hour then
>>

>>
>>2223315

>>
I'm avoiding BAT.

There will be no widespread adoption of their shitty browser, Google owns the Web Store and they won't allow any sort of competition that'll kill off their golden goose ie advertising. Fierfox is funded by Google Inc, they own the browser market.
Google has held off letting addons (eg adblock) into Chrome, even though mobile ads are a disaster for UI and ruin the experience. Why? $$$
>>
>>2223315
How do you buy into an ICO? How does the process look? Can someone walk me through it?
>>
>>2223326

The real answer these shills won't tell you. Nobody.

Brave browser is literally unknown. Only a few neets use it. You can't compete against Google, glad you changed your mind it's a hopeless project.
>>
I don't know how am i supposed to buy this ?
>>
Nevermind I get it, they're just revealing the transaction info in a hour, you're not supposed to send them money until two days from now.
>>
>>2223883

If you look at the adoption of Firefox Mobile it's dire, even though they are a known bramd.

I'm amazed people are so lacking insight on here and elsewhere that they think a new and unknown browser like Brave can have any sort of impact.
>>
Ask yourself: How many filthy NEETs here would want get paid in ETH while watching trap porn and avoiding their parents upstairs?
>>
>>2223807
it says:

02 Days 00 Hours 18 Minutes 45
>>
Why is their site so confusing

I was ready to send $400 in 15min when their address drops

We have to wait for 2 more days? What were to happen if I sent it then? I am sure many other people will send it too.

What about Bancor and Mysterium?
>>
>>2224016
15 min, where are you getting this from?
>>
>>2224025
Their main site says 2 days 15min but their address reveal site says 15min
>>
BAT Blog and main site says 2 days

Their token site says 8 minutes

Not sure what to make of this
>>
>>2224030

>>
>>2223360
>>2223390
>Bancor
Any idea when the ICO actually kicks off?
>>
I honestly like Mysterium much more even though I have some issues with it as well. This BAT stuff is autistic as fuck.

The Basic Attention Token sale will begin on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at approximately 8 am PDT / 3 pm GMT / 11 pm CT-China. The sale will last up to 30 days or until the cap of the equivalent in $24 million in ETH (fixed at contract push) is sold. At that time of the sale, we will deploy the contract to the Ethereum network. The contract address will be revealed approxmately 2 days before the commencement of the sale. The exact time of the token sale is subject to a block number.

>The contract address will be revealed approxmately 2 days before the commencement of the sale.
>The contract address will be revealed approxmately 2 days before the commencement of the sale.

BAT looks promising because it by the guys behind Java, Mozilla, and Firefox and they have lots of backing.

Honestly I plan to pump in dump and hold some in case they blow up

I am holding out for Bancor and Mysterium

Just not sure when Bancor will do theirs
>>
>>2224086

fuck that's confusing, doesn't fill me with confidence :P
>>
>>2224100
I think their goal was to release the address early so people can set their shit up in advance of the actual token sale on the 31st.
>>
>>2223315
where can I buy this shit?
>>
the amount of people here who don't know what an ICO is, really astounding. shows how new you are immediately.
>>
>>2224108
fuck, transferring BTC to trade for ether and I thought I had longer for it to clear...
>>
This thing would be good if it had Chrome and Firefox plugins.

Who the fuck uses Brave? But I guess the hype alone will make this thing work.
>>
>>2223315
I'm not sure if I've got my timezones right, but you should have a few hours to see how being added to the Chinese exchanges works out before the BAT ICO launches. Best to make your final decision then.

As for BAT itself, I'm still undecided as to whether I'll throw any money at it. I agree there's huge potential. It will be the only crypto currently dipping its toes into the sea of money which is advertising, that alone should give some returns. Though nothing like the 10x many people here are fantasizing about.

I'm not as negative on brave browser as the other people here. There's a gap in the market for people who want to browse the internet and dislike the google botnet but aren't fond of Tor's reputation as being used by criminals. Even at approximately 3.5% adoption, opera still rakes in a lot of money. What does concern me is whether users would really be prepared to deliberately enable ads on a browser based around privacy and adblocking.

Regardless of the glaringly obvious problems, I think the market will generally agree it's worth more than the 24M marketcap they're asking for. Plus there's going to be a lot of heavily invested shills floating around for a while, which ought to keep this from catastrophically divebombing.
>>
2 minutes past 8 AM and now announcement. I really don't like this project so far. So far all it has is big name developers but if you go to the main guy's website there's nothing on there about BAT. This seems sketchy.

Where as Mysterium, I've been on their slack talking to their developer and I can get answers fairly quickly. Those dudes seem all in on it.

This... I dunno... just seems like autistic faggotry to me so far. The idea is cool but... I dunno... maybe I'll just wait until it hits an exchange.

BAT is a semi long hodl.
It will go to 200+ million in a month or two just like gnosis.
Some morons will sell to get their small testicles 50% gains the smart money will wait for the 10x.
>>
Also, the team behind BAT and Brave are adamantly against 'hoarding' tokens and will do anything to promote the marketability to advertisers, i.e. they will happily dilute the market or artificially keep the price low to be marketable. No advertiser will want to get in if the price does pump up 3x from the ICO in a short space of time.

I know there's a cap on the tokens but that can change - just look at the hasty large increase in the ICO two weeks before it launches.
>>
>>2224159

how long are you planning to hold for?
>>
>>2224159

That's what I don't understand. If these coins are to be used for their advertising service, wouldn't they artificially control the price?
>>
Are these the tokens they're going to pay NEETs for watching ads on Brave?
>>
>>2224159
They don't give a shit what investors do. They care about the users of BAT. They obviously need to make their investors money or else brenden eich and everyone on the team will lose their credibility forever.

it's as simple as that. you people are thinking there are other things to this when there just aren't. we are investors. we are paying them to develop this technology further for future returns. That's what's happening here.
>>
>>2224164
Until at least 200 mill cap.
This is gnosis level potential without the gnosis ICO shitshow.
>>
>>2224126

>>

>>
>>2224319
My guess is that the date is wrong on the token page, since it's consistent everywhere else
>>
>>2224319
wtf are you talking about?
>>
>>2224176

We're paying for them to advertise the service actually. The tokens only have value on what advertisers think, they have already said they're against people holding tokens to wait for them to appreciate in value.

The entire model is based around getting advertisers on board. They're doing the ICO to advertise it to them - not to get the token itself to increase in value. Their product is complete. That's why they just added half a billion extra to the ICO two weeks ago as Aragon did so well in their ICO.

You're right - they don't care what investors do. They also have no need to create investor value as they want you to pump the tokens back to advertisers at a cheap price. They make their money from them using the service, just like google.
>>
There are 2 types of BAT if I'm not mistaken. The ICO BAT and the browser internal BAT. They are different if I read the white paper correctly.
>>
>>2223868
>Microsoft can never overthrow Netscape
>Mozilla can never overthrow IE
>Chrome can never overthrow Firefox
???

Even if brave doesn't take off, I bet once advertisers figure out this tech is good for them, they'll start shilling it instead of playing cat and mouse with adblock. The plugin will decouple the success of BAT from the brave browser itself.
>>
>>2223868
Advertisers are losing too much on loss leaders and click farm scams. This is their bread and butter
