I wanted to do it too, dont exactly remember when but years and years ago. Only problem is I was about 16 at the time and only option was localbitcoins or something similar which seemed suuuuuuuper sketchy.

you could literally mine whole bitcoin blocks alone on your computer even with a moderately average GPU. (a block is 25BTC). I mined ~250 a day on my slightly above-average graphics card in '11. Got bored and lost it all eventually. I don't want to think about how many I had but i would assume five digits.
