You could've gotten it for 400ish if you waited desu, but good enough.
Someone explain to me how "hosting" works. I dont understand the point. If I host I have to keep my computer online 24/7 then wouldnt I? What happens to the contract if my electric goes out?

They buy your HDD space and bandwidth at rock-bottom prices.
>If I host I have to keep my computer online 24/7 then wouldnt I?
Yes.
>What happens to the contract if my electric goes out?
Who knows? You're not a real host with a real SLA. There's probably some Freenet-tier redundancy built-in.
It seriously is just "Freenet: The Coin" though.
Encrypted files are shared across a minimum of 12 computers, ranging from enterprise data centres run by SIA to home users like yourself.
You are paid (NOT in Sia coin, some sia token) for your UPTIME. You don't have to be online all the time, your data is accessed depending on the speed and location --- chances are a closer, faster data center exists.
The point being decentralized storage, you are simply a backup node, not a fundamental chain where if you turn off the computer someone lost their data.
The client can pay a premium for data centres, or more backups across the world.
Ok cool. Is this service already up and running?
would you swap out your dgb for sia or hodl both?
>>2167750
I have both, I don't think it'll rocket like DGB but the dev team is solid as a rock. The lead developer is also an autistic white guy and they're always a solid bet.
