The /biz/ motto is buy high sell low.

They hype coins at the all time high and call coins worthless shit when it's in a dip. This is true no matter what the coin's function is and goes for stocks as well.

Reminder that a traditional company with supposedly millions of users is going to offer a token. It wasn't explicitly stated it would be a token on top of ETH, but it'll likely be an ERC20 token. It'll be announced at the Token Summit on Thursday. If it's a massive company I imagine it could have a very good influence on ETH's price.

We really need a sticky that says "Stop asking for advice on ETH. Hold and you will be rich".

Seriously, there is no reason to assume that ETH won't keep going up forever. There is no reason to assume that there is some limit to how high it can go.

When I bought ETH at $15.50, BTC was 80x higher than ETH.

Now it's only about 13x higher.

When I bought ETH, BTC had 80% of the market share of crypto, now it has 40-something percent. Stop fretting OP.
>>
>>2160829
Shit is only just getting started. This whole last weekend was just to test the exchanges capacity so they can quadruple it when big named giants will release coins of their own.
Can you imagine the run when samsung decides to put it's shares onto the crypto market? and every company in the world is now lining up to get on board the blocktrain. ETH and XRP made this possible mang, mostly ETH but XRP has it's place well solidified and is right now being held low so get in. Must haves - BTC, ETH, XRP, DGB

Informed Speculation:
This is a side effect of the Consensus hype train being over. Consensus created the 180 pump as present investors stuck their whale tails in for a day to feel the waters. When they stuck their whale tails in there was a huge ripple. That created a rapid appreciation-depreciation spike, followed by a steady climb out of the trough. That ripple was likely exacerbated by the collective low-faith in this place dipping out after the consensus hype. Also, a great opportunity to take advantage of a daytrade dip by selling before the dip then buying back up on the trough. Hence the steady climb. These are all strategic collective market optics I'm giving you here.

It's still worth the long term HODL due
1) BAT ICO
2) General appreciation of value trend among popular cryptocurrencies
3) Blessings from Microsoft
4) The earliness of crypto as a society-wide phenomenon. Crypto is potty training. Just because you weren't there for the first 2 years doesn't mean Crypto isn't a healthy growing toddler market on the global stage.

I say this as a bullish holder of a smallish bag.

There is value in all crypto:

>largely unregulated secure anonymous digital currency.
>freedom from central banks
>distributed, decentralized (some not all crypto)
>sticking it to your local government, if you do not like what they are doing with your fiat currency.
>Making purchases on your own terms.
>Supporting new forms of tech tied to crypto.
>Accelerating the development of post-predatory capitalism.

We can only speculate on why previous things mooned and project those patterns onto the near future. An imperfect method for certain. Definitely not scientific, but sometimes better than nothing.

I would be on the lookout for news about tech conferences featuring discussion of ETH and other crypto. I'd be on the lookout for Brave ICO on the 31st (new browser from Firefox guy and reputable team that pays users in an ETH-based Crypto called the Basic Attention Token for watching ads).

If you hear anything, tell us here. We'll help float the bags since we're interested in gains as well.

It reminds me the dot com bubble where this shitty site called theglobe.com had a market cap of 800 million. With military industrial complex cold war boomers holding onto all the fiat and weapons, and with millennials getting rich off of decentralized distributed deflationary securrency, I think you could see some of the power getting taken back.

Crypto is silicon valley culture. Silicone valley merges the best parts of socialism and capitalism into a unique synthesis. Cyrpto is enabled by open source programming, which is practically communist by the standards of older industries. Silicone valley people who are enabling this sort of thing go to work on microdoses of LSD. They are liberal but not SJWs. They are securing tomorrow's money away from some of the most power hungry and bloodthirsty industrial interests on the planet. That isn't to say this establishment isn't corrupt in a bunch of other ways unique to itself but watching the technocracy overtake the aristocracy is one of the few long term things I'm happy to be alive for.

As an actual dev person let me say this, (I am invested in both coins, full disclosure)

Writing pieces of software in the bitcoin scripting language is a massive nightmare. The turing-incomplete nature of it makes it impossible. Along with the esoteric and non-user-friendly style of the bitcoin scripting language itself. It is a horror story. It is literally a clone of the forth programming language. It is low level, and annoying and forces you to create massive amounts of weird work-arounds to fix that it is so fucked all the time.

Now compare that to ETH/ETC
Fully formed scripting language that is just like any other, very easy to write code in, and very easy to understand. Code is clean/nice. And lots of projects are already being built ontop of ETH, obviously. There are threads shilling for them all the time. It has such a great developer platform and support structure, I can't compare it to anything else available.

TLDR; I implore any of you, even those that are non programmers to look up the wiki page for the bitcoin scripting language, and just look at the code/syntax. Then go look at the massive wiki of beautiful how to's and documentation on the ETH scripting/development platform.

Even a non-programmer will instantly see why ETH is better than bitcoin in this particular area. And why it is a truly novel addition to the crypto-ecosystem

holy shit that's pretty fucking low level, like arm asm or something...
but isn't bitcoin already pretty much finished? what other kind of software would you write on it?
I mean I see that for ETH it's pretty important to be as high level as possible for a flourishing dapp market.

sorry for the stupid questions but I'm not a software developer...
>>
>>2172043

Umm it is kind of complicated to explain. Because bitcoins scripting language is about as stupid as a fairly smart calculator, and intentionally ultra-restrictive (for security reasons, think the DAO hack, is the best example for why ETH's non-restrictive language can be dangerous and cause massive issues)

Because of that, most people develop applications that use blockchain by sort of boot strapping themselves onto the blockchain, they use the movement of transactions and third party extensions to build applications onto it. This works out well most of the time. but because bitcoin can only fit (iirc 256 characters?) of arbitrary data into each transaction, this makes it really really hard to build onto it without making everything you want to do require a zillion micro-transactions to do anything useful. It is really hard to build useful applications with this tech.

Bitcoin should be kept as a currency IMO, that is what it is designed to do, and when people started using it as a massive multi-purpose trust platform is when everything went to shit. It isn't built for that really, and all the weird hacky-applications for it are mostly fucky. This is the reason ETH exists.

I would say that calling bitcoin "done" is the wrong way to put it. the developers have an exorbitant amount of power in reality. They could make it Turing complete if they wanted. They can change the node software however they want really. It never really has to be 'finished'.

Some of this was a bit high-level, but I feel like I explained it fairly clear I hope?

However, I'm not dellusional enought o discredit my parents for sending me to a good school, being supportive of my dreams, and providing a good safe household to grow up in - things that the vast majority of people do not have.

People cannot start businesses when they're grinding low paid jobs because they grew up in a shit environment and have little to no education.

Oh, and since selling my company, I've made an additional 5m from ETH. Enjoy being poor.

There are limits per exchange on how much you can withdraw per week. That being said I withdrew $3500 on an ACH transfer without any problems. The issue is not getting out of a coin to fiat it is the wait period for the deposit and liquidity of the exchange itself.

If users feel uncomfortable then spread your coins across multiple exchanges. Better yet backup your private keys and add your coins to a hardware wallet. Store them away because in a few years they will be worth quite a bit.

You said rich people didn't earn it. I proved that, in most cases, and especially in the US, they did. Which means you're wrong.

Plenty of people have "a good safe household to grow up in" but they have to put in effort to become rich. And those are a damn sight more common among the rich than heirs who don't manage to squander their fortune.

ETH is a long hold. I'd say years personally.

The tech behind it requires huge amounts of dev time to both understand and adopt. Decentralized computing is really complicated and not a lot of people are good at it, but this has real-world use cases in a similar vain to Amazon's Cloud Compute.

A lot of enterprises are interested in it because of outages from major companies. AWS going down means that a lot of companies lose millions. Same with Azure. Everyone's getting scared of putting all their infrastructure on the east coast or in silicon valley, and ETH's contract system is something a lot of people are interested in as a result.

Throw the money down the pit and forget about it. If you're looking for short-term gains, go buy some memecoins. This one's gonna be big though.

Thinking about exchanging some ETH or BTC for that Litecoin dip but they just keep going up

I can't pull the trigger
>>

hodl man...this is a long con. You're going to live long and have a prosperous life, plenty of time to watch your investments grow. Don't cast them off before they've had time to work for you!
>>
Wow. I was crying when I missed the $40 - $80 jump, after having missed it last year when it was under $10

Then I see the jump to $120, am just apathetic at that point

>$210

What the fuck? Nearly made me kms, desu

>will never be rich
>>

>>
>>2179712
Still got time, imagine 2-3 years from now when normies hear what companies back it.

213 today is 3000+ tomorrow
>>
>>2179724
Are you retarded?

It's $213 at coinbase
>>
>>2179733
How are you doing overall? Like vs just holding.
>>
>>2179744

obviously I would have made a lot (A LOT) more money if I just bought and held since I started trading this shit (a year ago)

but I just cant sleep well when I hold crypto overnight

it is my curse and I adapted to it
>>
>>2179712
Just get in and stay in, mother fucker. DO IT. Don't be a pussy.

Even if it crashes, you'll be able to live with yourself knowing that you at least tried. Don't be that guy who goes his whole life playing it "safe" and missing every opportunity.
>>
>>2179758
the arb window is closing
>>
>>2179762
You can't sleep well?

I get excited to go to bed. Every morning I wake up to 4 digit gains
>>
>>2179773

I have 5k in the bank how much ETH should I buy
>>
>>2179762
how do lowgains feel bro?
>>
>>2179803
theyre alright
>>
>>2179799
Only invest as much as you're willing to lose.
>>
>>2179799
all you can, dude, i am literally sitting on just enough money to pay rent in 5 days, then i'll spend all my extra money again, this shit is mooning
>>
>>2179799

I'm already about 4k in on it, probably gonna drop like 3-4k more
>>
>>2179836

I am incredibly miserly with my money, but I feel like I need to spend at least 1k to make significant gains from this.

I literally don't buy anything but necessities, I could probably afford to start buying a few coins a month.

I have a dream anons
>>
>>2179799
Depends how much you need to live. I wouldn't go over 1k if that's just sending money
>>2179864
I wasn't going to post this and closed out of my phone til i see your comment, do it.
>>
Coinbase wants me to wait 24hrs and is down anyway, is there another way to buy ETH?
>>
>>2179872

>>

LTC is dead dude, literally end of road
>>
>>2179905

There is no "two late" depending on how long you're willing to wait

ETH will be going up year by year. LTC? not as proven
>>
>>2179937
Thanks mate, will probably dump onto ETH and then just ignore for 5 years, see where that takes me
>>
should I sell tonight and buy back tomorrow when eth is likely cheaper? Seems like it's bound to go down
>>
>>2160072
Sell and buy moon
>>
>>2180019
Lets be real. unless your selling a shit load of eth it might be worth the gamble. If your only selling 1-9 or whatever the fuck you might make $20-40 but what if there's no dip or a small dip? you got fucked. Risk/Reward mother fucker.

Please respond. I want to be able to make large purchases every week. How can I do that?
>>
>>2180432
Set up your bank account and upload your ID. Your limit will then be 10k USD
>>
>>2179744
Are YOU retarded?
>>
>>2180599
Are there other exchanges worth using as well? I wouldn't mind juggling with another account.
>>
>>2160072
sell some when it reaches a high, buy back when it hits low. Almost recovered all the money I lost with the shitcoins I still own that are going down.
Not that difficult.
