'writing a covered call' means that he owns a stock, and he sells an option (he receives money up front) for the option buyer to gain the right to buy a stock at a certain price at a specified date

so lets say he is holding X at $20, and he sells a call with a strike price of $22 that expires at end of week. now lets just assume he received $1 per share up front for selling the call....

if the stock goes down from where its at now to $19, then the option buyer (who has the right to buy at 22) is obviously not going to buy at 22, he'd rather buy on the market at 19. so the option expires and faggy takes the initial money as gain

if the stock goes up from where it is now, lets say to $24, now end of week comes and the call gets executed, and faggy is responsible for selling the buyer shares at 22 as agreed upon. So he made money up front from selling the option, but he could have made more if he didnt do the option at all and sold at market at this higher 24 price

this is a pretty simplified explanation and i hope i am not totally wrong here because i dont have much experience with options desu

Most biotechs are shit. CVM has something that actually works, the patients know it works, the FDA knows it works, but they didn't do due diligance in paperwork so the FDA halted it.

That cut their stock from $2 per share down to 50 cents, and a continued halt in December (FDA wanted more clarifications) dropped it even further.

It's essentially a $2 stock for $0.12, but if the FDA rejects them again it'll drop. If they accept them? It could recover all the way up to $1 that same day, or it could skyrocket up to $4 now that it has a future and so many business insiders have their eye on it.

Combined those 2 things suck, which is why they've been tanking for years. They finally tanked below what they're actually worth though, and people on /rgt/ noticed before the market did.

Essentially, their earnings reports were bad for years, but you can only lower your expected earnings so many times until your shitty company actually does better than your adjusted expectation.

The last Earnings Report was the first positive one in years, and they refinanced some debt properly, and they bought new shipping containers for cheap after selling theirs for years for more.
