i use coinbase for btc

get coinbase account, get verified. then you can buy a coin to transfer to an exchange, where you can get most other coins.

once you have some on coinbase go to send/receive and then get the address from the wallet on whatever exchange you picked and put it in to the send address on coinbase. then send it and wait till it transfers over.

then you can trade for different coins.

* Sign up for a Bittrex account.
* Go to your Bittrex account, click "Wallet", then click + next to BTC under "Account Balances"; this generates your Bittrex BTC wallet ID

* Wait a little bit to transfer. Maybe takes an hour?
