Sia is better. Storj is written in javascript by a bunch of SJWs . Sia is written in Go by a bunch of MIT graduates.
Do the math

Pretty much this. I found out about Storj first and 2 weeks ago I was like "holy shit this could really be something big". Then I bothered to find out what Sia was and I thought, hang on, Storj is dogshit.
Was excited about this ICO at first, but Sia is better in every way.
17,000,000 USD raised already

In what kind of business are storj and sia?
>>2112818

The catch is this isn't their initial funding. They've had other funding rounds before this, and you are buying the bags from the people who got in before at cheaper prices.
Storj tokens from the ICO are locked for a few months.

Only pre-sale tokens are locked
>$50000 locked for 3 months
>$100000 locked for 6 months

StorJ is currently migrating to Ethereum based tokens, which is still GPU mined, but not by StorJ users.
I think it's s smart move to piggyback on ETH, offloading all the heavy lifting to the huge Ethereum community. StorJ devs can now focus on their core tech 100%
Plus users don't need a separate wallet. Ethereum tokens can be managed with the standard wallet.

*StorJ tokens can be managed with the standard Ethereum wallet
and they get the consensus security of a large network for free

>20M$ out of 30M$ cap already reached
I think it's a really REALLY good move on the short term
