Will there be any more increase in value or is the mission complete?
>>
>>2097426

This is a multi-tier mission that relies on the inevitable decline of BTC owing to its limitations coupled with the advantages and many potential uses of ETH. It isn't a shitcoin, so its value isn't in P&D but in accumulating.
>>
Don't get too hasty. Bitcoin will eventually eat shit, it'll just take time to fall off the market coz it's so ingrained in crypto users. As it slips the money has to go somewhere and at this point it's just a matter of when and where, and ETH looks like a suitable successor. As far as short term goes, should I hold ETC even throughout the peak during the upcoming conferences/demos? Or do you all think there might be a big enough dip that you could make a quick buck buying back into after temporarily selling at the peak?
>>
>>2097426

ETH is a generational coin. You pass it onto your children as part of inheritance, where it will continue appreciating in value until the year 2117.
>>
>>2097426
>barely dipped as XRP literally doubled from 7 billion to 14 billion

I'd say its here to stay.
>>
no way but i don't think ethereum is the future. it's only a matter of time before somebody finds an exploit in the smart contracts feature, creates a virus, and steals everyone's money. unless someone can explain to me why this is impossible, i'm not fully sold on eth.
>>
>>2097737
This is the most stupid comment on this board, maybe ever.

didn't you see the fake sell wall earlier?

price is bound to spike very very soon

after my XRP gains tonight im heading over to eth
>>
>>2097746
somebody already managed to write virus signatures to the blockchain a couple months ago. scanning the blockchain will yield a false positive for the duqu virus. i know it's a leap to go from this to what i said, but this somebody doing something malicious that was unintended by the developers and scares the shit out of me.
>>
XRP has really knocked the wind out of it but I reckon ETH is still good for a bit more. Sitting so far back in 3rd now though it's either going to take a hard XRP landing or some ETH projects taking flight to be eligible for rocket momentum again though, some solid announcements might get it a bit of a pump.

If BTC were to take a dive now more of that is likely to be bailed on XRP than ETH. That said, from what I've found out ETH is still the more known of the two among the chinks, they will probably however be starting to take note of XRPs numbers, it's a toughish call.

The capabilities of the two really don't matter all that much for now as they arn't direct competitors.
>>
>>2097708
This

BTC also jumped 5% in an hour and ETH just went with it. The current sell down is accumulation. Long periods of price suppression followed by sharp buys. It's meeting a lot of resistance at the $85-90 mark, that's about as low as people are willing to part with their ETH.
Whoever is manipulating the price now is going to find it harder and harder going.

I personally sold my XRP and half my DGB profits to buy more down at 472 and 476, seemed a no-brainer.
>>
>>2097809
Is everyone forgetting Ripples plan to make XRP less volatile than any other coin? They've already started pulling their coins out so i think we won't see it drift far off its current price. If people keep buying, they'll dump coins. If people sell, they'll withdraw. If you're an investor who didn't sell on the pump you'll probably never have use for this coin again.
>>
>>2097809
The chinks love ETC for some reason though. In china they do at least, fuck knows why.
Maybe because it's cheaper, follows ETH movement almost exactly and they bought into the whole "muh immutability" meme.
>>
>>2097869
I think even ripple has forgotten about that
>>
>>2097869

Most of the XRP shills don't understand how the token cold storage works or why it's being done. They genuinely believe 60% of the tokens being withheld from the market means further price increases due to limited supply. What they don't understand is those tokens are there ready to be dumped on the market if the price gets too high.
Imagine buying a stock where there was a guarantee of dilution down the track every time the SP gets too high.
>>
>>2097670
The coin itself may continue to appreciate in value but will your children appreciate the value?
>>
>>2097950
It's amazing how little research they do on the coin. It's hard to find an article about ripple that doesn't mention exactly why they hold 88% of their own coin.
Oh well, investors will be in for a surprise when they check their wallet in 3 years time and find it hasn't budged.
>>
>>2098239
>>2097950
Well, considering that Ripple creators give away XRP for free (just received my 20 coins), you're probably right
>>
>>2097950
the put the lock on and the way they did means even if they wanted to dump, they cant before the 4 year limit...

do you guys even read articles? or just FUD shit.
>>
>>2098399
My FUD has more basis in reality than your irrational hype and fomo. XRP is just the current Dash/XMR/LTC. It will settle down around 1700 then drift into 1500 and below as the heat comes off it.
You not happy with your 300% gains over two weeks? Did you honestly think an alt with BILLIONS in supply was going to find another 300%? Over take BTC in market cap? Come on anon. Zoom your chart out to 1 month or all time and take a reality check.

You XRP shills got emotionally invested with is incredibly stupid. I sold at 2370 and moved on. You'd be wise to do the same.

>ETH bagholders actually think memereum will replace BTC
>>
>>2097584
ETH is being manipulated to an unprecedented degree right now. Whales are crashing the price every time it goes up a bit in order to load up on cheap ETH from newbies who panic sell. This is going to keep happening until the 22nd. From there it's going to spike to $150 at least. That's when you sell, and it falls down by $15-$20 which is where you buy back in as it approaches the bull trap. Then sell at the new temporary peak and buy back in soon after.
>>
>>2099949
Don't give too many tips away, we can't buy the dip if nobody's panic-selling. ;^)
>>
>>2099949

Oh man bro you should work on fucking wall street with those tea leaf reading skills.

There is no dip anymore, we're taking off.

Watched it move up 5% in the last hour.
>>
>>2097737
>>2097763
Allow me to explain why that is not possible.

Your money is stored in a wallet with a private key that only you (and your computer) knows. There's no way to crack this key and it would take millions of years for computers today to decrypt a single wallet.

However, there could definitely be malicious smart contracts, just like in real life; if you sign a contract without reading it, you are bound to do as the contract says. If you accept a smart contract that otherwise screws you in per say: a casino, then you will lose to the dealer.

No after the rise there'll be a dip from investors cashing out. You have to sell before the dip and then buy back into the dip. You won't have more money, just more coins (meaning a greater profit when it continues to rise).

thanks for not just calling me a retard and actually explaining it to me!

so:

what exactly does 'signing' a contract mean in the context of smart contracts? like is it possible a smart contract could be designed to have me agree to it without my permission? and are the terms of a contract hidden information? or can i always find out what a contract consists of if i bother to look?

sorry if these are dumb questions but i'm new.

This is what eth shills actually believe

You were dumb enough to hear about bitcoin and disregard it years ago and now you're retarded enough to think eth is your ticket to riches. Lotsa luck

Remember to sage all non-bitcoin threads

how are those increasing by rhe day unconfirmed transactions going for ya there bud???

when is this EEA shit supposed to happen?
>>
>>2100082
smart contracts are just agreements between two users, and the agreement cannot be dishonored because it's pre-written by the blockchain. It cannot be modified by you or the owner.

It really just depends on the application, I use the casino example a lot because it's the easiest one. There's a lot of trust involved in casinos, ETH is the perfect solution with smart contracts that neither the casino and the user can modify. This means the winner gets to keep the money securely.

I don't doubt in the future we will have access to these contracts to see how they are written, but until we start seeing more common applications that use them, it's still pretty much in proof of concept right now. Although some applications like golem are about to release their progress to the world (brass golem). ETH is basically still a baby, and it's already planned to be the internet 3.0.
>>
>>2100086
Lol. U mad? Whoops forgot to sage. And keep on not adapting, that never worked for anyone.

No, ETH holders think it's going to increase in price and a profit can be made.

The end.

>Bitcoin will eventually eat shit
>There are people on /biz/ that ACTUALLY believe this
>>
>>2097441
This is funny because ETH isn't even 100 dollars and it's already experiencing the same problems as BTC: blockchain congestion and high fees. In a lot of ICOs people are advised to "set up a lot of gas" to avoid their transaction getting stuck
>>
>>2097737
It's already happened, and it will happen again
>>
>>2097426
> is the thing that will revolutionise the way business is done online, IoT and usher in Web 3.0 fully valued at $8 billion

KEK

If you are thinking of selling now you're basically doing the equivalent of selling your Apple shares in 1989
>>
>>2100902
I want to believe you anon, I really do, but isn't that a little too optimistic?
>>
>>2100910
I am optimistic but this is still very early stages for ethereum - although it's constantly talked about here /biz is a very small corner of the Internet - mention ETH to any normie and they won't have heard of it, imagine what could happen when all that money comes flooding into the network
>>
>>2100900
when did it happen?
