With the ICO expected in about 2 weeks time I propose we talk about BAT. First heard about it over here in /biz/ a few days ago and just finished reading the whitepaper.

For those of you who aren't aware yet it's a system that at its head has the creator of javascript. It's based on the Ethereum network and plans to create a more personalized form of advertisement for consumers adhering to it. The users would be rewarded with BAT tokens for subjecting themselves to ads whereas the advertisers would use these tokens to bid against each other for ad places.

What's your take on this ICO ? Do you guys think these tokens will moon? Will the whole project be sabotaged by Google somehow?
>>
>>2087456

This is a moon ticket for sure. R/R ratio is so high.
>>
How many should I throw at it?

$500?
$1000?
>>
How could we invest in this for when it comes out? Is it going to be on bittrex, yobit? I would like to get things cleared up so we can invest as soon as it drops.
>>
I'm definitely tossing in $1,000. That is fucking brilliant.
>>
Brave browser is pretty damn nice even in the early beta stage it's in. Very excited about this one.
>>
OP here.

From what I understand they'll only take Ethereum for their ICO. Planning on sending 30 or 40 over. What I still don't get is if these tokens will also be available on exchanges online.

I may be naïve but this seems to have the potential to be huge if nothing else for the people involved in it.
>>
>>2087456
This name is really stupid
>>
Ill drop a couple hundo because its hard to lose money in crypto.

I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT TECHNOLOGY OR BRENDAN 'HOMO HATER' EICH. WE BUY THIS SHIT ON MARGIN AND WE DON'T LOOK BACK BOI'S.

No seriously, if fucking XBY's 'dead mum's supporting my coin' literal Canuck marketeer can moonshot his zombie coin then this thing can go places.
>>
So then how do we buy when it comes out?
>>
>>2087818
we would have to buy as many shills as there are for XBY tho

doesn't come cheap
>>
>>2087818
This has an actual application that will give it value. All of this other crap is just a fucking scam. This is one I want to get in on the ground level
>>
>>2087837

I know bro, I have been using brave browser for about 30-50% of my browsing time for about a month now. It's really good. I am going heavy on this.
>>
So how does it work?
Where do I buy it and when?
What will the starting price be?

I want to get in while the coin is worth absolutely nothing
>>
>>2087858
How does one store it is the real question, fampai.
>>
>>2088066

Probably a centralized "wallet" that's actually a connection to their server.
It sounds like it's going to be a service token more than a currency, something you just pile up until you want to cash it out to ETH
>>
>>2088066
its an ethereum token, so probably on your ethereum adress like other tokens
>>
>at its head has the creator of javascript
>javascript
NOPE
>>
>>2087576
You guys should try Brave browser for porn! Fuckin insta loads dem titties
>>
How many of these BATcoins will I need for a Lambo-mobile?

stfu about this you nigger thats why we are shilling xby and dgb.
>>
I wonder how much ETH for one BAT?
>>
>brave browser competing with chrome and firefox good luck
>requires etherium to store and probably purchase too (on one hand this will shoot eth up, but on the other those who don't care about it won't get in on it)
>ICO is only $15mil with white paper released it will be sold out in 20 seconds after release
I mean the concept is good and all but you might as well invest in other high potential altcoins, they'd bring the same result.
>>
>>2088244
I think i read a bat will be lkke 2 cents
>>

this will potentially be my first ICO

is it cheaper to buy in during the ICO or as soon as it hits the exchanges?
>>
Sheit, at what time will it be released and from where to i buy it? Yobit?
>>
>>2088318
ICO is usually much cheaper. The second it hits the exchanges, it usually boosts.
>>
>>2088290
oh fug that's cheap
>>
>>2087456
When this comes out, tell /pol that we can BTFO Jewggle by investing in this. Prepare for takeoff.
>>
>>2088450
Omg this is brilliant. 4chan in general will eat this up. "We will finally beat Jewggle by using Brave, AND GET PAID FOR IT". There is literally no reason to not go all in on this fantastic coin and make a quick buck on retarded racists
>>
So please explain how the browser will combat bots which just open webpages and give their "attention" to ads to farm money.

And don't say anti-bot AI. Running that type of program on a smart contract would be ridiculously expensive.
>>
Going to throw my thoughts out here, I'm putting in at least 1k and maybe another few, if I wasn't so poor I'd put in even more.

Ad revenue is the core revenue stream for some major digital companies. It's about ~200 billion a year now and estimated ~330 billion by 2020. Google and to a lesser extent Facebook have been increasingly locking up and monopolizing digital ad revenue. However, advertisers are growing increasingly unhappy with both.

BAT is the currency for an Ethereum based digital ad platform and is locked at 1 billion coins. The service they outline in their whitepaper is a big improvement on the current digital ad system.

The team is solid, this is about as far as you can get from some fly by night thing. It's not some anon dev that can dump and bail.

By 2020 BAT could be worth billions even if it's sub 1% of the digital ad market, right now you can buy in when they want to raise ~15 million.

Sure it could fail, so can everything else. The upside potential here isn't even a moon ticket, it's straight past mars and into the fucking outer solar system.
>>
>>2088561
I imagine you wont get to watch that many ads, like a couple per day which wont yield that much money, making bot rigs extremly ineffective for their electricity and pc cost
>>
>>2088603
Hmmph, maybe. But even then, couldn't you have one budget PC running hundreds of browsers at once?

HOW THE FUCK DO I BUY THIS AND HOW THE FUCK DOES IT WORK FAGGOTS. GIVE SOME FUCKING EXPLANATION

IF YOU READ THIS AND DONT REPLY WITH A SOLID ANSWER UR MUM WILL DIE AT 12:00 TONIGHT.
>>
>>2087456
Two options:
>either a shill or a moron.

If you think its so good why advertise it to have less chances of getting in on the ICO?
Probably a dev shill wanting as many people to get on the ICO so he can dump at exchanges at the highest value.

Remember people, If its too good to be true its most likely gonna screw you over.

>>
>>2089166
Your insect brain doesn't seem to comprehend that this project has been shilled on major social networking sites including places like fucking reddit for months now. Keeping it hush on /biz/ changes nothing.
>>
>>2088290
That's high for a starting investment.
It's most likely .002

no thank you.
>>
>>2087456
How does an ico usually work? Do you need to be there from the very start to be sure of getting the tokens? Is it first come first served? How does the transaction work? Etc.
>>
>>2087456
Seems to have potential. Everything ad-related always has money in it. The whole digital ad market has literally billions of dollars, and it's growing. So yeah, I think the idea per se is good. Don't know about the actual project yet.
>>
>>2087592
That's just the name of the token. It's actually the Brave browser.
>>
>>2088767
>Hmmph, maybe. But even then, couldn't you have one budget PC running hundreds of browsers at once?

WHich is one way of saying this is a terrible idea/investment.

Advertisers want to pay to put ads in front of potential buyers.

THis will be full of people wanting to make money from ads being put in front of them...people that are not buyers.

Advertisers be like "HAHA FUCK NO WAY!"
>>
>>2090843
It's first come first served, but they usually increase the cap gradually over the ICO each time it gets capped.

In any case not minding the browser competition I'm not sure how much people will want a browser that is dedicated to show you ads. People hate ads, the only other browsers that are actually popular are those that have built in adblock like ghostry.
>>
>>2088075
>>2088066
it's an ERC20 token
