As a leaf, what are some of my options for buying and trading stock? Any recommended services I can look into first?
I have a portfolio planned out that I want to hold as my retirement as well as some short term (~5 year) holds that I hope to pull out for a degree.
I'm new to investing my money outside a bank, and am just looking to make a nice spread across stock, crypto, and (small) forex while I continue to learn what's what.
I'm going to be buying crypto on kraken, but other than that I don't know what services to look into for stock and/or forex so any suggestions would be appreciated, cheers.

The day of the rake is coming.
there's little difference between the big 5 banks for trading, if you're already with one then just open your account through them
>stock
This board is about memecoins now.

So my best bet is just to go through whatever service RBC offers for buying/trading stock?
Will look into that for my long term holds, but was also wondering if there was a good service ala robinhood that is available for shorter holds. I remember seeing some advertisements for some, but would rather look into ones that are recommended.

Questrade. 4.99 at trade as against the 9.99 don't let the bank Jew get a hold of you. 80% should be in the vanguard U.S total market index. 20% you yolo with. Buy BIP.UN fire and forget. Both will be up in 5 years time.

If anything, 80% should be put into Vanguard's emerging market for long-term investments.

Thanks, will definitely look into Questrade.
I was basically thinking of longterming this, with a couple other picks of my own:

Will read up on Vanguard options. Im still in the planning/learning phase so I'll get that down on paper for when I finally start pulling the trigger in a month or two.
Was going to buy some BTC and ETH for long during crashes, and play with LTC/other kraken meme coins, but never with anything I couldn't afford to lose. Majority of savings will go into most secure stock/index I can find.
Thanks again.
