The reason is higher volume on Polo and thus more liquidity. So you can sell something faster because there are more buyers. Ideally more people would all leave Poloniex so it didn't have such a monopoly on liquidity. That's the problem.

just use bittrex, you can trade tether usd there now aswell, and they have an ethereum marketplace

there really is no reason at all to use polo anymore
