Coinbase allows you to buy bitcoin and litecoin, is also a wallet, and is very user-friendly. Some countries don't yet have the feature to sell through coinbase yet though so look into that first if you aren't planning on holding (they will eventually add the sell feature to all countries).

You should've posted this a week ago.

Early last week LTC was a great return. It was even then being shilled on biz and was at 19-22. Shorting yesterday made a tidy profit.

Now it's bouncing on its tits between 29-32. I am sure it has potential, but I want to have a regular life instead of living off the whims of chinese whales overnight.
