Buy the rumor sell the news works except for the fact that crypto markets are extremely impatient. Incredibly impatient. Stock markets factor news into prices months in advance. Crypto markets do this kind of shit by the hour instead. Lazy impatient traders and "fear of missing out" retail lemmings to make things even more volatile.
