Prices always go up, right?!

Does anyone have any insight into how significant HCG is to the overall mortgage market. They just received an injection of capital from another lending institution.

Own two properties in toronto and they're not too big. These companies are a dime a dozen these days since banks are getting picky with lending
Housing crash coming again in T-Minus 26 months.
Wait until after that to buy anything.

Op here, what makes you say that?

All the exact same shit is happening again that lead up to the last one.
I can't believe how short people's memories are.

I've been looking to buy in Southeast Michigan over the last 7 months or so. The prices have gone up around 10k overall since I first started house hunting. Such a damn shame that I have the money to do it now, not 3 or 4 years ago.

>The last one
What, 1989? Yeah I don't remember that one. Canada didn't have a crash in 08.
I believe it though, the biggest question is whether Cmhc will get a federal bailout. RIP CAD$
So, buy opportunity or will it go under ?

Who fucken knows man

I wouldn't touch it, the Canadian housing market is teetering on collapse, with all levels of government threatening to intervene to bring prices down.
This is going to fucking murder these 'alternative lenders' who frequently skirt due diligence in issuing mortgages. There are so many young Canadians with mortgages they can't afford, who are banking on housing prices making 10%+ gains every single year to stay afloat.
This whole country is over-leveraged.

Pretty sick of the smug old people who think turning housing into a pyramid scheme is a good idea. I'll be happy to see prices collapse. Unfortunately with the number of homeowners and the unspoken desire to devalue the CAD I think we'll see a bailout, or maybe a collapse+bailout. It gets more obvious every day that central bankers are setting up for a big scorched earth but that's a different thread. Surely if housing collapses it'll be blamed on trump. NAFTA/lumber maybe?
