Hi, /biz/
I did an interview last week for a online flower shop and to my surprise the job title is manager. Untill now i have been always the assistant and now this guy wants me to run his "baby" (as he calls the online shop)??
He told me its not making sales because he doesnt have time to care for it as he owns 2 physical flower shops.
Its not that i dont know what to do, because i do know enough about marketing, social media and ads. But it's not like im an expert, thats why im so scared! AND I STILL SAID THAT I'LL DO IT. I know that i look very confident and i talk like i know everything, and maybe thats what led him to trust me this job, but im fucking shaking in my boots right now.
I really want to do it because i know that being 21 nobody will ever offer me this opportunity again and i like the idea of the challenge.
So should i just swallow my fears, noobness and insecurities and just go for it?

So is it the online venture of his two physical shops? It needs to have an easy to use ecommerce platform. Then start focusing on SEO and social media channels. Ask what the marketing budget is and figure out how to best maximize your returns with that.
How much are you getting paid?
Just roll with it. Either he funds it enough, and you can build it up to something that works, or you cash in while it all sinks. Just make sure that you get paid properly during the process.
In my experience working with noob clients that want to make it big on the internet, make sure to:
1. Do not do work for free.
2. Make sure they have a clear understanding about what their goals are and how they define success.
3. Make sure they understand that the project needs funding.
You should definitely go for it though. Fuck your insecurities.
I will make an order if you go for it.

From my talk with him he's really open to spend money on this. I'm scared because i'm such a pessimist and i dont want to waste money.. and the fact that the products in question are flowers it makes it a lot worse, because i dont personally know anyone who would consistently spend money on a set of flowers, stuffed animals and chocolate. But i know theres a market for everything, so why not those items?
I want to learn everything about SEO and Google AdWords to top the competition on search engines and Facebook. Any tips on that?
About my pay, he's paying the same as everyone else, but he said that if i can make it work, he'll make sure i get paid more.

So you're just advertising Flowers basically?
Well, Social Media/Internet as a whole is the way to advertise.
If you have a fairly big budget, advertise on on the top 3 Social Media sites. And then, try to find dating websites for more "traditional" people and see if you can advertise on there, such as Match.com or maybe that Christian Mingle site. However, don't hit companies like Tinder or something like that obviously.

Idk if well have money to advertise on these dating sites, i think that it may be something to do in the future.. I need to make the website pop up first when people search for "flower shop online".

And not "flower shop [in my town]?
If that is what you have sold your boss on, I hope you have $10 million to spend, 'cause no fucking way that you can sit around and buy social linking from BHW and get top SERP on that phrase.
