I can tell you that these are the ways I tell if a bill is counterfeit or not

1. The feel
2. Color of the ink
3. Does it have ridges on the ink
4. Is there a security strip in it

Usually what sets me off is the feel of the money, and then I look closer. If you can get a bill that feels the same as real money, most people won't check it, as long as the ink is basically the same color.

If you have a good copy machine, and the right type of paper (needs some cotton in it) You can make a pretty convincing counterfit.

The problem is you can only pass of this money here and there, in businesses where it won't be detected.

And anyone who knows what markings to look for can take a moment or two and determine the bill is fake.

Apparently he setup a fake financial company
to convince German paper company to produce the rare 70%+ cotton paper for him, including a watermark used in the bill.
He said the hardest part by far was acquiring the watermarked cotton paper.
