What do you guys think about online workplaces? I'm asking because I started freelancing not long ago and right now bidding on freelancer.com for 2 weeks already but still got no work, my expecting amount of payment is always below average, I write unique bids proposals don't copy\paste it. Should I try other online marketplaces is it just this one not working?

Don't do any of them unless you live in a third world country, otherwise you won't make enough cash.
Start an affiliate marketing site.

I think I just payed someone in Serbia $15 for at least 4 hours of work.
Freelancer is even worse than Upwork btw.

Freelance programming is pretty good cash. The third worlders can't stay up to date and half ass everything. I recommend you go through something specifically for coding

I spent weeks trying to find first upwork job and the client left me with "No feedback given" so I can't find my second one. The pay was ridiculous for the work done though (in my favor)

I've been fulltime freelancing (web development) since 2012 and these online workplaces are a joke and a fucking waste of time.
Get cool business cards, go to local events, pass out your card and network. You don't even have to "sell" anyone, they come to you. Charge them what you want instead of settling for $15/hr on Odesk or some shit.

I do freelance web design from time to time. I have never used any of those sites nor would I ever do so. They are basically bargain basements where you are competing against chang and pajeet who will gladly work for $0.20/hour.
I just advertise on local websites for my city and via word of mouth. You can't compete against pajeet on price but a lot of people are happy to pay more for someone who is local, trustworthy and professional.

I mean, if you're a good programmer you can probably make more wagecucking than you can freelancing can't you?
