MMEX, the most insane stock I've ever witnessed... I made a post about it on a robinhood thread the day it went from 0.0001 to 0.0010. It went to 0.0560 yesterday. 56000% gain in about a month. The guy who bought $30k of it on day 1 would be living in a 10million masion with a collection of Lamborghinis now. Although I'm pretty sure nobody made it that far from day 1. After looking into it it probably wouldn't be the best bet. Unless somebody can provide some reasoning or source to suggest otherwise then it appears to me as if TTWO is currently overvalued.

That aside, looking at the price of TTWO in relation to the announcement and release date of GTA V (and to a lesser extent 4, though 4 definitely seemed to generate more volitililty) seems to indicate that a relatively (and I do mean relatively, as GTA V is the best selling game ever to the best of my knowledge) insignificant title like Red Dead won't really make a massive difference in the price of the share, though if TTWO didn't appear to me be so overvalued I would probably recommend purchasing a few shares just as a pretty safe way to get a nice 5 or 6 percent return.

All of the above comes with the disclaimer that I'm a complete newfag and haven't spent a single dime on the stock market yet, so anybody more knowledgeable and/or experienced than me is more than welcome to correct me.

It seems to me like there is zero difference between the market here, and the market in an mmorpg.

I always make my money in games just buying low and relisting. I keep an eye on things and see if somethings price seems to be going up all of a sudden, in which case ill buy and then sell a little higher.

The only difficult part is knowing when to stop, accepting you will lose sometimes, being ok with getting out earlier than you could have and not feeling bad that you missed out on profits causing you to fuck up next time.

Im not convinced you need to know what the stock you are buying even is. I sure as hell dont know what some obscure item is for every time they suddenly get in high demand, i just know suddenly they are worth more.

Agree with everything except this. You do need to know since certain sectors react differently to certain events, which can have profound impacts (e.g. Biotech clinical trial results).

That aside, you pretty much have the right idea. All you really need to be successful at trading is how to interpret charts and very good pattern recognition, along with an understanding of how "investors" tend to react to different kinds of external stimuli (press release, earnings, etc.),

Long term holds are kind of the same thing as buying a house or a fancy car you think will appreciate. That really isnt 'playing' the market, thats just using the market to buy something you think will increase in value.

Of course you should diversity not only the things you invest in but the ways you invest, so its perfectly reasonable to have a portion of your money in long term holds. But that seems like the sort of thing you are better off having some firm do, as they have many people keeping an eye and researching many different stocks. It seems like doing that yourself as optimally as they could as a whole would be a lot of effort for probably not much higher gains.

Its the difference between an investor and a trader.
