Are watches a good investment?
Knowing the time is always a good thing. Luckily nearly every electronic device now had a very accurate clock on it
No, they're a luxury. In 2017, watches for men are jewelry.

If you don't own a phone then yes.
I mean nothing wrong with owning one, but the aren't in any stretch an "investment." Are your socks an investment now? Your underwear?
I knew someone who took a loan out on a watch.
Needless to say, he is a fucking retard.
Watches don't get you laid and e-watches aren't worth their price, just get a reg watch for like $20 and be done with it.

No not really but they hold their value assuming you buy like a rolex or something

Investment? like fanincial? not really... but if a watch you like makes you happy, you have the money for it and improves your mood then go for it.
I wouldn't buy an e-watch and look for a brand with real history. You can find a lot of good brand that doesn't cost a fortune. I'll buy a Bulova soon, it isn't too expensive but I enjoyed reading about its history.

They are literally just a male accessory used to indicate status and/or style. If you have a smartphone like a normal person, they have little actual utility.
