Some do appreciate in value but they are rare, you're gonna have to invest alot for not very impressive returns. Its better if you just collect watches as a hobby because you want to and they hold value/appreciate as an added bonus.

I wouldn't buy an e-watch and look for a brand with real history. You can find a lot of good brand that doesn't cost a fortune. I'll buy a Bulova soon, it isn't too expensive but I enjoyed reading about its history.
