hey guys, I'm taking a finance class rn and one of the required readings is dave ramsey's "total money makeover". Two chapters in and I get the feeling that this guy is a meme. Why does my teacher insist that we read this book and what would you recommend for a newfag to read?
He insists you read it because statistically, you should: http://nypost.com/2016/09/27/why-even-half-the-middle-class-is-living-paycheck-to-paycheck/
Also if you're a total newfag to finances, that's the right book to start off with.
He gives decent advice for the average pleb. Keep in mind that average plebs are his target audience and you'll be fine.
You're in an entry level finance class and you're shitting in a guy who has helped literally thousands of people fix their life, and you come out of the gate talking shit? This board isn't the real world. Learn some shit before you start thinking you're going to become CEO of the world.

you're too emotional for this thread dude. I wasn't shitting on anybody, his book just starts off meme-ey. I come here to find out whether I'm wasting my time or he's the real deal because I'm a new

You'll find that most of his callers aren't even average plebs. They're mostly trailer trash or nignogs who fucked up and found him. If you have some common sense with finance, you basically know everything Dave teaches.

You came here and asked "should I give this guy I know nothing about a chance?" Instead of relying on other's opinions, study it and have an opinion of your own.

It's true, he's also a meme. Living within your means should be obvious but most people are too retarded to understand that. I weep for future generations who will end up debt slaves unable to ever get a handle on their personal finances.
