Does anyone have experience in either? I found a pretty good system of facebook ads that works for local businesses, but my problem is getting the client. The clients I have love me but prospects think I'm a scammer. I make 3500 a month right now from this.

You need testimonials. Invest the time in getting some from your current clients.

>Cold email marketing
Is that what they now call spam?

There is a good reason why calling creates more trust. You can fire off a thousand of templated emails a minute, but a normal human being can only maintain one phone call at a time. You invest your time and effort in the phone call, thus offering immediate proof you care more than a spammer. It's more invasive, but also, in a sense, more polite to call because I know you aren't faking it as badly with your "personalized message" for me. (Unless you robocall or use an Indian call center to do your bidding, of course.)

I'm not really sold on either method desu...

An even more hardcore alternative is to visit local businesses in person and offer whoever is in change your services. I've read about a guy who did that with web design services somewhere.
