About to move to New York City for a PhD program (political science), should take me anywhere from 3-5 years to complete. I'll be making $26,000 a year to start.
Will be moving with $4,000-$5,000 in savings.
Any ideas on generating passive income or lucrative part time work for a PhD student?

you're gonna be hungry often m8 and live in really really shitty conditions with that income. invest in a rat-killing stick, fans for summer, and lots of blankets for winter
What in the actual fuck are you going to do with a polisci phd? The only thing you can do is teach, and then you just become part of the problem. Drop out of school and start a business. Hell, I respect waiters more than guys with a phd in polisci. That's like having a degree in gender studies.
