>tl;dr: DCR is a cryptocurrency that mainly focuses on governance but isn't as retarded as DASH.

I don't know but I feel like the idea of voting on forks sounds like begging for problems. a currency shouldn't be governed at all. it's like mounting a harpoon onto every car and expecting it will only be used for good.

Have you happened to read /r/bitcoin (or /r/btc) the past months? Of course these projects have to be governed somehow. All is good right until it isn't, like is now the case with Bitcoin. Even a PoW algorithm change is being considered.
Bitcoin miners have been (not) signaling SW for months now. Holders have no say on the matters. Bitcoin's growing governance issues are the reason the split community largely look like pic related currently and its dominance index is at an all time low of 66%.

like I said "I don't know". I hope there's another way. Like letting flawed technology fail and after a few generations we might end up with a useful solution instead of voluntarily handing over control over our private wealth to do-gooders and other types who feel attracted to the idea of having a say in other peoples lives, to do good like taking away those undeserved riches from evil rich white men, or other maybe less obviously stupid but still disastrous ideas.
(democracy is a very stupid idea when it's profitable for most to steal from a minority.)
DCR is popping off!
