Every dot point of YouTube's "advertiser friendly" policy
is counter intuitive to the interests of advertisers.
Am I wrong /biz?
Yes. Many brands do not want to be associated with the indicated content. Why do you think 4chan and porn sites have the creepy advertising they do instead of having real brands?

>why do you think 4chan and porn sites have the creepy advertising they do instead of having real brands
>4chan
because 4chan is seen by most of the internet as the place where weird people go
it would be suicidal for corporations to advertise a website most people sneer at
>Porn sites
cus people go there to jerk off instead of thinking about buying food, insurance, pets, clothes, etc.

There was a food website which advertised on porn website funnily enough. The CPMs are pretty low and the CTR can be quite good

>many brands do not want to be associated with the indicated content
Sure, brands that strive to be family friendly wouldn't want that.
But many others would, its stupid for YouTube to assume no advertisers would want to be seen next to
>sexual
>violent
>inappropriate
>drug related
>or controversial content
People who watch frequently watch sexual content are more likely to respond to sexual advertising
See pic related.
Controversial topics tend to split people down the middle, but this assists in targeted advertising.
A video criticizing Trump is more likely to be watched by an audience of:
>young
>majority female
>sexually promiscuous
>left wing
>people living in states like CA and NY
If this is a company's target demographic, then they've struck gold

Interesting, I've never heard of that campaign before

"Controversial or sensitive subjects and events,
including subjects related to war, political conflicts,
natural disasters and tragedies, even if graphic imagery isn't shown.
The following would benefit from advertising on that kind of video
>most forms of entertainment
Any movie, music, books, video game, etc that involves war, tragedies, political conflict, etc.
>charities
People don't want to see an ad showing a starving African child, asking for a monthly donation
if the video they clicked on was about the latest Nintendo game / fashion trend
>people running for mayor / president / any other position in office
People interested in those sorts of topics are more likely to give a shit about who's running their country,
therefore more likely to vote

Whats your opinion on YouTube's "advertiser friendly" policies?
>>1879215
I never worked for a big brand so I don't know how they tick. However, I think they can be more temperamental concerning the mentioned topics. And in the end the biggest spenders have the biggest influence.
On the other side, I see options as a positive. Give me the option as an advertiser to filter out content. It works fine with display networks. Like you said in >>1878971 sometimes these topics are indicative for a target group. E.g. when advertising the newest jackass or South Park episode I would have no problem seeing the ads on a video with "serious injury" oder "inappropriate language". On the contrary, it will probably perform better
