g-guys p-please buy eth so i-i can not lose money

As if this guy would waste his time writing a book for Ethereum if there was no market? He wrote one for bitcoin before too. He knows whats up unlike the skeptics on 4chan.
What makes a smart contract in Ether so special? There are hundreds if not more speculation markets already with contract features. Also where are the commercial systems that accept eth as payment? it's just another hypecoin

Eth is NOT a currency. Vitalik has said this many times. It is simply a reward for mining data and purchased as a claim in the success (or failure) of ethereum. It's smart contracts eliminate third party trust with functionality in more than just currency. Not only is it not a shitcoin but it's actually a rocketship to the moon
Currency, commodity, claim w/e. Sure could use some examples where smart contracts could have a function not already in place at trustworthy third parties.

The point is that third parties can't skim money off your transactions. It's cheaper and safer than central servers

So they're treating kinda like a stock where you dont actually own anything of any value?

Only valueless if ethereum fails... Did you even read what you quoted?
The btc blockchain can't be skimmed, POW, and transaction fees (skimming?) are part of the speculation market, the sole reason cryptos continue to exist. What is the value of a 2 party low frequency trade? How can you easily find other traders? trading platforms and their inherent fees
ETH secrets revealed. Not for the weak at heart.
