https://www.goldmoney.com let's you do that.

They charge a .5% fee. They take bitcoin, though I've only paid in dollars. They hold the gold for you in a vault (for free & insured up to 1 kg).

I redeemed some of my gold (got a half ounce maple) and it was a $19.99 redemption fee plus $19.99 S&H.

You can sell it back and spend the cash on a prepaid card for free though.

So it's a full-reserve gold backed savings account that you can turn in to liquid dollars.

FWIW, I'm not doing what you're doing though. I have two weekly recurring transactions. I buy $10 of gold a week through goldmoney and $10 of bitcoin a week through coinbase. Now that everyone is all bearish on BTC I want to up my weekly purchase to maybe $30 a week. I'm keeping my gold buying the same.
