Should have converted all of your BTC into ETH a few days ago then converted back to BTC once ETH appreciated. Literally free BTC.

>wtf is going on with this fucking shit
Combination offailed ETF, ETH's pump and China coming down hard on BTC. See:

If you're smart, sell all your BTC into ETH right now, while ETH is still low.

Not sure but the smart money is selling 10-20% of their eth and buying bitcoins with it. Great opportunity to hedge yourself
>>
>>1870401
Nothing is really happening with it. It's still unbelievably overvauled given the fact that eth has quite literally made it redundant.

My only guess is the major bag holders are all colluding together to find the best time to dump it without creating panic and loosing their money.
>>
>>1870646
Right it's def overvalued for now I think 650 is good price but speculation is it could be 3k in a couple years that's why it's at 1k. My question is is eth hot in dark web sales?
>>
>>1870652
no thats the thing, BTC is really the only accpeted currency along with XMR. If markets adopt ETH then it will shoot to the moon but not until

Why? You guys bash them constantly without giving any arguments.

The Dash developers get paid out of the block reward.

WHY OH WHY would they then kill the golden goose to make a quick buck off fleecing people. It's in their best interests to keep a good thing going and manage Dash responsibly.

In fact you could argue that they have the most incentive to behave themselves out of anyone in the entire crypto scene.

i'm thinking about making a trust-less escrow service for btc trade. basically it would work like this:
buyer and seller agree on an amount of btc and the seller puts it on an address neither of them have access to alone. both of them have part of a secret password for the private key.

now either of them can release the bitcoins to the other by revealing their part of the private key but after they did they don't have the private key the other party has it so they can't try some quick double spend. this allows bitcoin to be sold offline instantaneously. the buyer can confirm immediately if he can decrypt the private key and it belongs to the address in the transaction. and in case the seller backs off the buyer has no incentive to keep his coins hostage there is no way he can access the bitcoins.

local bitcoins have a similar system but you have to trust localbitcoins not to swindle you and you can only release funds online. no totally offline transactions.

do you think this would have potential interest? i'm quiet certain i could write the software for it altho the trust-less part needs some consideration. how do you truly guarantee a server does not keep the private keys it generates? maybe an opensource software running in cloud anyone can check it's integrity and anyone can use the api? i don't know.

the input would be 2 public keys, and the output would be the public key and the encrypted private key and the two parts of the secret protecting the private key encrypted for the private keys of the two input. one pub key would be the buyers one off the sellers obviously.

something like that.

I want to sell, agree with someone on a price, put BTC into escrow. Buyer says "Fuck you, I found some for cheaper" *blocks my mail address*. What now???

Maybe someone's a salty nocoiner troll and does it to literally every offer on the market. What now???

I want to buy, get address of escrow, verify the amount. I pay the money. Seller never gets back to me or sends me a garbage key. What now???

Also, it would still require you to put the amount you want to sell into its own address so you can hand out the private key. How is this instant? You still need to wait for confirmation on the blockchain.

Do you understand enough crypto to really grasp how much half of a private key weakens the encryption?

I don't see any benefit. As the seller I relinquish access to my BTC no matter what. Even if the transaction falls through. And if implemented properly I have no humanly way to regain access. An escrow is supposed to require me to put less trust into my counterpart, not more.
>>
>>1872342
yeah it occurred to me that the buyer doesn't lose anything by backing off unless the server does keep the private key and releases the buyers secret to the seller at a specified and public date assuming the seller still knows his part of the secret he can recover his btc.
>>
>>1872342
>Do you understand enough crypto to really grasp how much half of a private key weakens the encryption?
that's the most retarded thing you could possibly say tho. you don't get half the private key you get half the secret required to retrieve it. if you knew anything about symmetric cryptography you would know why that's meaningless from an attack viewpoint.
>>
>>1872418
sorry the server does not keep the private key anyhow. it only keeps one half of the secret and only releases at a future date, but this means the buyer must swipe the coins off the address by that timeline. yeah i don't like that very much, but it could be needed.
>>
>>1872422
>you don't get half the private key you get half the secret required to retrieve it.
Ah, wasn't sure about that from the original post.

But how is having half of the passphrase meaningless? It halves the orders of magnitude of combinations you have to try for a brute force attack on symmetric crypto. Not to mention if its generated pseudo-randomly or derived from the public key inputs (which you seem to suggest) it should give clues as to how it was generated/salted.

>that's the most retarded thing you could possibly say tho
You don't seem to interact with people a lot.
>>
>>1872465
>But how is having half of the passphrase meaningless?
well you can choose an arbitrary big secret halving it will still be way way stronger than the private key of equivalent bitsize.

>>1872785
Pls explain this wall business.
>>
>>1870634
>>
>>1873007
ETH is plummeting in perfect tandem with bitcoin.
Virtually identical candles and everything.
>>
>>1873003
At certain bid prices (usually "clean" numbers like 800, 950, etc) there's a large amonut of BTCs (at least 50 or so for it to meaningfully be a wall, of course this depends somewhat on overall volume and number of transactions, etc) that kinda works as a "wall" against the price falling when BTC is being dumped (sold at highest bid price).

I suck at explaining things, hopefully that was clear enough.
>>
Next wall at around $955. Around 130 BTC.
>>
>>1873003

I think it means someone placed an order for 55 BTC at $975 a piece so the price will not drop below $975 until all 55 BTC have been purchased. So if I placed an order for 1 BTC at $900 no one would sell it to me, they'd sell it to $975 guy.
>>
>>1873022

>>
>>1873037
I'm monitoring it on Bitstamp's trade view as well as bitcoinwisdom. From the latter you can basically see this in lists above (ask) and below (bid) the display of the current price. Those are limited orders that people have placed hoping someone will eventually reach them and buy/sell at that price.
