poloniex best exchange?

can i trade coin without a wallet using an exchange such as poloniex? does it work similar to a traditional online securities broker ie. etrade?

you cant trade btc/usd or eth/usd in polyneux so it's worthless

yes but they require id verification. nobody wants that ofcourse.

buy btc with usd. but it's worthless t rading btc/eth you would have to trade eth/usd with margin to be profitable as btc value fluctates too much for btc/eth trading. much harder than btc/usd or eth/usd

There are many exchanges that do BTC/USD and then you just transfer your funds to poloniex
My setup is a trezor wallet where I actually keep my coins when I'm not trading, poloniex for alt trading, gdax for btc/usd trading
worth mentioning that gdax is kind of a POS though, they went down during the ETF freakout. I pretty much only trade on gdax when there aren't crazy major swings
If you trade without keeping in a wallet when you're not actively trading you're taking on the risk of an exchange being hacked
