So what makes ETH better to the average person than Bitcoin?
>>
>>1865926
PSA: This will be your last chance at buying Ethereum before it explodes to 100 USD. Missed the bitcoin train? Don't fuck up this time.

Some info:
Ethereum has improved every technical aspect of bitcoin combined with having a built in programming language for infinite versatility. You could run an election on ethereum through smart contacts and it wouldn't be possible to even claim that "the election was hacked" as you could just check the code and pseudonymous transaction list yourself. Ethereum will also be the ultimate escrow service rendering banks completely useless. Want to bet with other 4channers anonymously about what outcome topic X will have? Make a smart contract that will release the money to the winner once the outcome is settled.

The Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (Microsoft, Intel, JP Morgan, Deloitte etc) are currently in the process of building decentralized applications (dApps) on top of Ethereum. All of this will increase the value of Ethereum by an absurd amount. Some of their prototypes will be released here:

http://dapps.ethercasts.com/

Other Ethereum related news can be found here:
https://cointelegraph.com/

You can get Ethereum from coinbase or Kraken. Or buy bitcoins at localbitcoins.com and trade it for Ethereum on Poloniex. Visit /biz/ for general Ethereum discussion.

is poloniex a scam? I am unable to withdraw any currencies, they rejected my withdrawal and said there is an urgent message at my profile page, I check it and it says to link other accounts to my main one, but I don't have one, so they say to create a support ticket, so I try and log into the support forum and it won't accept my details, so I ask a mod, they say that I need to reset password, so I do, and it fails to send me a reset password link, so they say I have to create a new account to be able to create a support ticket for my first one

seems like an elaborate way to force me to make multiple accounts and link them

also seems suspicious that they would deny the withdrawal that was within the limits to begin with

has anyone actually used poloniex to withdraw CC or USD to completion?
>>

Cant login to support? Make a new account with a new email.
Cant login with that new account? Try another ISP.

Its ludicrous.

im in the same problem using fucking coinbase
>>
Beginner questions here: I have 11k to invest and I could have around 49k soon and I need to know how to get bitcoins to trade for ethereum. I'm on localbitcoins and I can find lots of people trading for cash but I don't want to walk to my car with 10k in my jacket and I don't even know if the bank would let me take that much out. I have a feeling the teller would say I'm only allowed to hold 2-3k of my own money. Also, what are the consequences of withdrawing 10k in cash? Do I have to fill out some forms? Does my account get frozen and I go to jail for trying to move my money in the most basic way possible? I've read the obvious stuff about this online and so far it looks like I just get put on a list which doesn't bother me. I just want to know if there are better ways to buy bitcoins. I've heard the stories about buying hundreds of ethereum in a day so how did you get the bitcoins to buy the ethereum? I don't want to buy 1k USD of bitcoins 10 times because that could be structuring or something.

Should I just settle for investing much less than I can just to avoid the huge withdrawals necessary to start buying?
>>
>>1866396

Scared I've been screwed by poloniex here, they are telling me to go in circles:

can't withdraw because I need to merge my accounts (I only have one)

can't login to support to create a support ticket to have someone actually check my shit so that I can withdraw my ETH, BTC, USD

they tell me to make a new account to create a support ticket, I do

new account login also fails to get into support

they tell me to change ISP
they tell me to check another PC

to be able to login
with details I used to login and ask them why I can't login to support

all the while, they hold onto all my CC

this really is starting to look like a scam

>>
>>1866756
it's too late, i personally wouldn't it, but to each their own. alt coins are only worth it when they're first starting off and you can invest in hardware to mine it instead of directly buying the coins, i.e., when you can still profit off mining it instead of shorting it. when you invest in the hardware you actually have the hardware as a collateral, you could try selling it at any time you want and your losses would mostly be the energy fees of mining and perhaps some devaluation on the hardware you bought (being second hand and all), but when you're just buying and selling the coins you have no collateral, you could lose it all at any time. most people will tell you otherwise because they're either speculators themselves or are early miners holding onto their coins.

tl;dr it's basically gambling, all you can do now is buy it and hope for the best, sure there are some indicators it might rise but no one really knows for sure. if you're a speculator and got some spare money (not your savings) then go for it, if you're a conservative investor then the ship's already sailed.
>>
>>1866780
Poloniex is easier to sign up for than cuntbase.

Because coinbase, as you can tell by this thread, which is pretty much becoming coinbase tech support forum, that the website is shit, sells eth way overprice and needs all your id in order to give all your info to the government.

Localbitcoins you sell bitcoins p2p with a buyer, and vice versa. Some sellers require id for high volumes some dont give a shit. And you dont need to wait 6 fucking days to do the trade ya cuckhole

I want everybody to understand that what we are seeing is a vote. The markets are voting on which should be the world's cryptocurrency. Turns out that people want programmable money that is developed by a nonprofit in Switzerland, which is uncontaminated with mafia ties and black market unseemliness. They want a truly decentralized currency with competent and emotionally mature developers that is agile enough to adapt to our needs. They want cooperation with business so people can actually benefit from this technology, instead of being sneered at.

That's why the world is choosing Ethereum.

Despite all the positive catalysts what you're actually seeing is a bubble as people price in overly optimistic scenarios for ETH adoption. Nothing runs up this fast and steep forever. For you long term holders who got in a while ago, you're likely fine but all these newbies buying purely because they missed the boat on BTC and think this is their chance to get in on the "ground floor" are going to get hurt, hard.
>>
>>1867070
What we're seeing is autists casually gambling life savings on a crypto that isn't even used in normieville like BTC. Sure it has potential, but so did all those penny stocks you traded on Robinhood. Crypto is the new penny stocks meme. Regardless. Buy high and sell higher.
>>
BTC's first major rise lasted almost two months before it dropped like a rock. I'm guessing we have at least another month before ETH does the same.

My guess it'll drop off after it hits around 70$ which would be roughly a dollar gain every day. Probably wont be that fast of an increase but its something to go by

If you can't check your bank statement online immediately you need to change Banks anon.
>>

You just initiate a transfer to either a debit card, account number, or PayPal address and it will be sent within a day or two. Easy peasy

everyone switching their btc to eth.
institutional money getting into btc because of etf hype even if it failed
that institutional money will eventually flow into eth

As long as they don't go insolvent I don't care.

Gemini and Kraken require utility bills yes? I'm a NEET. I don't have a utility bill. Where do I make an account and what would my daily and weekly limits be with debit and with bank transfers? I need to move 10k USD into ethereum before lift off.
>>
Just wondering, is mining Ethereum even a thing anymore? I have a top tier PC if it matters.
>>
>>1867962
yes, it is still a thing until the end of the year. Then it will end.

generally you will end up spending more in electricity costs than you make in ETH.
Do alot of research beforehand to make sure you do it right.

Having free electricity will help if you don't pay for yours and you landlord does or something.

Is it still like the old days where it's only AMD cards that can do it? I have a 980Ti.
>>
>>1867978
Im sure that your pc with that gpu can handle it.

but isn't that an Nvida? I honestly don't think it matters.

Just keep in mind your PC will eat power like a bitch.

WEEEEEEW feeling sorry for anyone who bought at ATH earlier this morning — also feeling sorry for anyone who didn't sell a little to grab some gains

What I mean is, I am feeling very sorry for myself right now

Ask yourself if you would spend 2k on bitcoin if you could go back in time to when it was under $100. Of course you would, don't miss the train anon.
