Guys I just got an interview for a Team Manager position but I have never done any kind of team managing.
Being entirely new to it and really wanting to get this job I'm turning to you guys to ask if you could give me a rundown on IT team managemet or if you know any online courses/resources that could help me learn about it so I can at least sound like I understand it.
Thanks guys

Enterprise, the position is support team manager

-don't criticize or complain about people
-praise any improvements, even minor things
-give honest appreciation
-encourage others to talk be a listener
-be genuinely interested in others and make them feel important.
-let others save face (pride). making people look bad in front of others makes for a toxic workplace. If you have a beef with someone, don't do it in public. Talk with them appropriately or tips for improvement
-try to see different perspectives from other peoples points of view
-if you mess up, be willing to admit it
-set a high bar and let them know you believe they can reach it
-remember that the reason you become a team lead is so you can field advice, direct strengths, cover weaknesses, and report to your boss on issues in a clear, consistent manner.
I hope this helps.

Op here - It helps a bunch dude , appreciate the input.
So a lot of the job seems to be motivation and interpersonal communications? I have experience in counselling so I feel that what you've pointed out would suit me.
Lot of really good points to follow and I'm absolutely using some of what you said here in the interview.
Any other tips for interviews in this position?
