This isn't a terrible suggestion if you speak Chinese. There are a lot of artists and poets sweeping the streets in large cities because independent artwork really is still politically unsavory there.
Just go into a bar, buy a drink, and tell them you're looking for the neighborhood's famous artist. They'll laugh and direct you to some old man bathing himself in an alley who knows kuang cao calligraphy.
