The idea itself is not socialism because socialism is simply an economic control by government, not implied by the simple idea. In effect, it would require a socialist government to uphold such a system. That said, I cannot think of any long-term benefits to such a system.

I dont a problem with CEOs per say. I'm with Thom Hartmann and think that don't think billionaires should exist. 999 million is more than enough for anyone to live on. Anything over that should be circulating back into the economy or be put to communally beneficial use.

Why shouldbn't they? They risked the capital or created the product or idea and it was so valuable people were willing to give them billions for it. Why shouldn't they get the billions that people payed for their idea, product, or get the billions returned on their risked capital?

Having a wage cap or not is a moot point. Even if you did a wage cap of a dollar an hour, there are other forms of compensation to get around that restriction.

I.e. alot of their wealth comes from valuations set by the market via the lame excesses of millions of people. I.e. the average person by your definiton is just as guilty with their excess wealth.
