Is having his subsidiaries run autonomously him admitting he doesn't know how to run a business
It's probably more about time than ability.

>making billions in profits from companies
>doesn't even manage the company
That makes him smart.

No. Just that he's not content to limit himself to the limits of his own managerial skills when he can profit from someone who can do the job even better than him.
Stop thinking so binary anon, that's a legit sign of autism

>him admitting he doesn't know how to run a business
his results however debunk this claim, and perpetual results are the non-plus-ultra argument for everything

Contrary to public belief, there really isn't anything upper management can do to move the needle once a market and the busnisses is set-up. Far more likely to fuckk it up honestly. Sure at some point in the past someone invented something or started something, but now it's just making sure the ship doesn't catch fire and stays on course. Nothing's that matter are basic debt/assets structures. Beyond that just get decent people in place and the rest takes care of it's self.
Also he is more of a finance guy than a manager, so you could be right, but it's retarded when you can just set the governing board up right and hire decent people. Mir you do that right, not much else matters

The dude took a textile manufacturing company and turned it into one the fourth largest public company in the world.
He knows how to run a conglomerate style business - finding out the value of companies and seeing if any of them are seriously undervalued. There's no need for Berkshire Hathaway to micromanage its subsidies in this case - they were already running well without Berkshire's involvement.
