Flipping an IPO (shorting it within a few days of release) is frowned upon by most brokers, but totally depends on your individual broker's rules.
If you do it too much, they may blacklist you from buying an IPO permanently.
It's all about supply and demand.
If there is too much supply and not enough demand, the price goes down. Why do you think the stock dropped 10% today? People sold it. Saying you can't short an IPO until a set amount of days is not true. Many shares were sold today and many will be sold tomorrow. It totally depends on which broker you are using.
