what are the best countries to live in if i'm just passively receiving income from the USA?

Texas. You could buy a home with that interior for around $250K.

This.

If you're actually rich as fuck; New Zealand.

Depends on your income level and interests.

Most retirees from US go to Mexico. It's close to home, quite inexpensive, and many coastal parts are beautiful.

I was looking at it at one point, but decided to stay in the US.

One thing to note: Visit several times before moving and live there for a couple of years before buying (if you ever do buy).

Especially in poorer countries, buying can be a big mistake.

It can be very difficult to own property as a foreigner in most "developing" countries that people tend to retire to. They typically rent condos in gated communities filled with other foreigners and enjoy the "authentic local life" they so called experience with their fellow white folks.

You're better off just retiring to Florida or Texas. Cheap cost of living. Lots of places to go. Beautiful women.

If you're more of the I want to retire on the beach, I'd move to Florida. If you're more of the I want to spend my days hunting and fishing and being outdoors, go with Texas.

I'm a homeless truck driver and plan on buying a home in Texas probably. I was interested in Florida for the saltwater fishing but figured that would get expensive and boring fast because I love getting dirty going after catfish.

I have a little under $150K in savings right now. Plan on buying a little home with some land. A truck, a motorcycle, and a boat. Then "retire" from OTR and find something local. Was thinking of someplace near Houston or Corpus since I can use my TWIC and find some home daily Intermodal gig that still pays as good as OTR.

Ideally though I'd like to find a fat insecure RN that makes a good check to leech off of and make her feel loved. That's my retirement plans.

Find an RN, that's funny. :) Good plan, though, at least your healthcare will be covered.

That's my main concern these days, is to keep healthcare costs down as I get older. It's one of the reasons why I liked the Mexico option - supposedly the HC quality is good and costs are pretty low.

Texas is a good play, RE-wise. It's a good job center and you can reasonably expect appreciation over time. Just be aware the property taxes are quite high.

I think it's a good call to stay away from Florida. Hurricane season can ruin your day.

So, your 150k is budget for a house? Or is that your entire nest egg for FIRE?
