Alright /biz/, I am currently working towards my CPA degree and have some free time before enrollment. I thought it would be a good idea to pick up some type of coding language, especially since I want to get into IT auditing.
Anyone have any idea, experience or general comments on what language would be most beneficial and /or marketable? I was leaning towards java and SQL.

Definitely SQL.
Java or Javascript. Python is also good.
Why java? I would personally say c++ as it seems like most financial systems are built within that.

What benefit could java or Javascript have in accounting or finance? SQL I've heard of and I think it's like SAP so learning it may be beneficial. What exactly can be done with those languages?

They're good for any general programming, or scripting in particular. I'm thinking from the perspective of a coder.
SAS and R are probably better for any statistical analysis. They also have general programming uses.
