the only (read: ONLY) thing that will reduce the value of bitcoin would be the pending global adoption of google's ripple or some other tech that's backed by large fiat countries. It's far more likely however, that the value of bitcoin will go up as people start to learn about crypto and then wonder what the granddaddy of it all is. Also, supply/demand of a payment method/currency that is ever expanding in popularity.

Is it possible that Ethereum can grow to twice whatever bitcoin is so that anyone with bitcoin will want to trade their bitcoin for ether and then bitcoin would go by the wayside?

I want to buy some BTC, but buying now would be a panic buy considering it's at its highest value ever. Did I miss the train?
