ethereum was premined, had a shady launch with kicking out the individual that wanted to run it as a non-profit instead of a for-profit business, had many members of the core organization involved in insider trading and manipulation regarding the hard fork, and had some of those same members try to defaud users out of the original ethereum fork tokens. they fit every definition of what a "shitcoin" is defined as, but people forget because it launched weeks before the bitcoin xt/hern drama and got a huge pump and its been slowly bleeding off ever since, so naturally everyone thinks its different to any other shitcoin because of the market cap.
