What does /biz/ think about Youtube as a passive/side income source?
I am thinking of making a channel in an attempt to suppliment my income while doing content I enjoy. The way I see it, in order to be successful you basically need:
>Upload consistently
>Content has a clear target audience
>Have a clearly defined kind of content (don't upload 10 different series as it will put off potential subscribers)
>Have either above average charisma or sense of humour
I think given you put consistent effort into it, anyone can succeed. I'm not sure what kind of content I should make though. I was thinking of making top 10's since:
>easy to make and churn out
>huge view traffic/traffic watches long videos
>can easily get away with plagiarism
But honestly, dunno if I'd be able to succeed given how saturated this niche is.
Anyway, can we get some discussion going on with anons who have a decently sized yt channel?
You do it for the fun to make the content you like. If your primary aim is money, you will be worn out soon and give up.

just make stuff that's fun; if all you care about is money, just take more hours at your day job. Doing something just to churn out and make money will start to feel soulless and grating really quickly.
Take this guy for example, I've seen a few of his vids around here and I bet he does it more for shits and giggles than anything else. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nivc2oCUF9w

Do some searching around for what people are actually searching. I'm sure there is a website or Google releases this kind of information.
Make sure you don't get into a trend that is a fad, but look for long term trends of what people are searching for and try to get into growing trends with large audience and low competition (maybe a handful of large channels).
