Is it true that you can not escape student loan debt, not even through bankruptcy? You have to pay no matter what?
Just keep deferring it

ahh it feels good to be a swedish born aussie.
Bachelor in Australia that I don't have to pay until i earn 53K AUD annually, and repayments are modest and interest free, deducted from your paycheck.
Masters from Sweden for fuck all
Yup, i laugh at you American cucks, why would you ever even go to college in the states, how hard is it to move overseas

Most of America just needs to get good. I got my BS and had $11k of debt after graduation. If you can't afford to pay $100 a month with a degree then you must have studied absolute garbage.

It's true that you still owe them even if you file bankruptcy, but there are loan forgiveness programs if you work certain jobs (gov't jobs). And there are also options to make virtually $0 payments if your income is really low. But that's pretty much it. For the vast majority of borrowers there is no escape
Income based repayment. Even though my income is above average, I sign up for it, get approved for a lower than standard payment. Call them, tell them I have other bills, can only afford X a month.
Maximum payback term on IBR is 25 years and then it's forgiven, remainder taxed as income.
