I read through the list of S&P 1500 components and invested about a third of it by buying all of the companies that I am familiar with and that I like and that seem to move upwards reliably, which are almost all tech companies because I am a /g/entooman. I've been using the rest of it to day trade memes with $20 - $150 at a time, using a cash account. This results in less than optimal gains, but I think it's an entertaining and relatively safe way to learn about the stock market.
