Did anyone else decide to go to law school here?

No.
It seems like a boring, shit career. I can't see why anyone would go into it for any other reason than the money which probably has something to do with the fact that the job market is supersaturated.

I'm considering it, but I've heard rumors (and seen) that the market is over-saturated.

It's like playing Russian roulette with your life. There are a certain number of big firm jobs "biglaw" that pay $180,000 starting, and then everyone else starts at $45,000 to $100,000... if they can find a job at all.
>Harvard/Yale/Stanford/Columbia will give you 90% chance of getting biglaw.
>Top 14 ranked law schools, you have to finish in the top 50% of the class 1L year
>top 25 ranked schools, top 25%
>top 50, top 10%
>top 100, top 5%
>ranked any lower and you're basically not even considered

Yeah, my overbearing parents made me do it.
Now my diploma is siting in my drawer while I code websites.

Social status is another big reason
Quite possibly the most pathetic reason I've ever heard, but eh, morons being morons.
