I'd borrow to the max and put it in an etf if i had to do it over again. Or use the money to save up for a house

how much money are we talking about here and also is it a fixed interest rate and what is the payment schedule they expect

Assuming he is doing a HBO or University study, payment will start 2 years after he finished his study. You can stop payments for 5 years max. Total debt has to be paid back in 35 (Thirty-five) years. I'm pretty sure there is something you can do when you're not able to pay back in 35 years.

No it's an option because in holland you get it with your school money so its 400 euro wich i get for free each month and i dont have to pay it back + i can borrow money arround 800 euros per month wich i have to pay back within 30 years

En ja, max. amount lenen is een no-brainer. Gooi het desnoods in een index fonds dan heb je jaarlijkse returns en zul je zelfs meer overhouden na 30 jaar en geen problemen hebben met terugbetalen.

Vraag het anders aan je oud economie leraar, mijne die vertelde aan iedereen om het vooral te lenen (want 0.15% rente, beter ga je niet vinden, ever).

En stel je faalt alles in je leven kun je gewoon je rekening terugbetalen met geld wat je krijgt van de overheid, of voor de trein springen.

Governments ALWAYS backtrack on their policies eventually and offering 0% loans for 30 years isn't any different. A motivated government would dishonor your fixed 0% interest rate and increase it if they really wanted to. So don't be dumb and take out a huge loan which you can't afford to pay back in a situation of rising interest rates.
