If you get paid under the table is it bad to deposit cash in a bank account? I wanna buy some things but I am kind of nervous about putting money into a bank account without having a "job" per se. Do banks care? Thanks in advance /biz/

banks don't care, however any deposit of 10k+ will be documented and sent to certain agencies in order to combat terrorism/money laundering. A record is retained if you gain a lot of interest in the account as well. But for banks you barely get anything usually, so that is a non-issue for most people.

ty bro you really just released me from a lot of anxiety. Cheers
I'm in a similar position. So usually if its just a few hundred here and there the IRS will never notice.
But just to be safe I do not put the cash into a account. I store it at home and spend when needed.

I make about 10k a year in cash. It never touches a bank.
From talking to people I'd say you can put in 200 or 300 a month, but I would not do any more than that.
If you ever get audited the IRS can look at your bank record and will ask where the money came from.
