you have the right to say no to high prices. don't be emotional and follow the herd strategy. Examine the margin of safety when investing in stock.
Most of this is lost on /biz/ users though as they invest instead in currencies or volatile penny stocks for get rich quick schemes.

I'm convinced no one has actually read this book. They just buy it when they become a "serious investor", like a rite of passage.

Value investing isn't dead. Current/noncurrent assets worth x are generally worth ~x, for example, and sometimes share prices wont reflect even a simple valuation like this. An analysis of all metrics definitely can reveal that a company is 'undervalued', even nowadays.
It's not a way to profit quickly though. All the advice about indices is still relevant too.
My thought is that it's very centered around stocks so it's not for me
